The first ever published book in Malayalam language itself “Samkshepa Vedartham” turned to 250 years and “Jnanapiusham” the first printed book in Mannanam St Joseph’s Press turned to 175 Years.
Mannanam: The 250th anniversary of the first complete Malayalam book printed in Malayalam script itself by Pianos Pathiri at the Propaganda Press in Rome and the 175th anniversary of the first book printed in St Joseph’s Press Mannanam Kerala,(The press made by St Kuriakose Elias Chavara) India. On this special occasion a Public Program (Seminar) jointly conducted at Mannanam by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara Archives and Research Center, Christ deemed to be University Bangalore and KE College Mannanam, Kottayam on Wednesday 21/12/2022 at Fabian Hall of KE college. Fr. Sebastian Chamathara, Provincial (C. M. I Thiruvananthapuram) inaugurated the programme. In the occasion, Literary historian PK Rajasekaran, Changanassery SB College Malayalam Department Head Dr. Joseph Scaria, Haritham Books Sub-Editor Mathew Antony,and Mannanam St. Kuriakos Elias Chavara Archives and Research Center Director Fr. Antony Bunglowparampil presented papers. Block Panchayat Member Dr. Rosamma Sony, Dr. Babu Cherian, Fr. Dr. Xavier Cheeranthara, Fr. Dr. Joby Joseph Mukalel CMI, Fr. Biju Thekekut, Fr. Francis Vallapura, Fr Job,Fr Johnson CST, Jarli Talikasthanam and More than 200 people working at various levels, history students and students of various colleges participated in the beginning to the end of the program. KE College Principal Dr. Ison V. Vanchipurakal expressed gratitude.
An exhibition of related ancient texts including Samkshepavedartha was also part of the program. The participants of the program had an opportunity to visit Mannanam St. Kuriakos Elias Chavara Archives and Research Center and see various documents of ancient historical importance.
